Awesome, first download..and review?

Dam you for being so much better then me ; ).
This once again..Is BEAUTIFUL!!

The song Phisically: The only complaint (however miniscule) was I thought the VERY first note on the guitar was a bit harsh sounding..Maybe it's just me, and I have no idea why I picked that up, but it seems like it to me... Other then that, beautiful background strings and choir..I also like that bass (or whatever it is) playing a counterpoint background almost to the melody.. Also, I have grown to love the bells ^^, so I am pleased to hear them in this song.

The Song Emotionally, Visually, and Story-wise:
This song gives me a slightly similar feel as Lacrioso's Breeze.. As we begin I see a young lad just standing humbly..yet somehow valiantly..He approaches people in his quite little town just to see what he could do to help, and rarely being turned down, he keep busy..However, when not busy, we see him atop a great hill, near a great tree, reading books about great heros, adventures, and villains..And upon finishing each one he is inspired to grow up to be a hero.. Now as the song progresses we see him standing on that same great hill, near that same great tree, but this time with an overpowering valiant look about him, a sword in the ground next to him, leaning on a tree. And as his hair flows in the wind, we see him still smiling out over the town, and into the blue cloudy skies, still looking to help. However, he is now older, has a sterner look, and a few emotional scars about him...

I really don't feel anything else, and the song just leaves me instantly there..but I guesss thats why it's a two part song huh? 5/5 10/10, and as always, Beautiful, eternal, and touching.

MaestroRage responds:

This story for some reason, induced a lot of imagery on my half. I literally sat here for an hour Magi, and lived the life of this boy. I saw his hill, the great tree he'd sit under and read of his favorite heroes.

The bakery, the smith, the stables. All the places he'd lend his hand to. The town appreciated him, and he them. Old lovers, and broken sweethearts just one of few emotional scars he carried with him.

So damn interesting. I will remember this world, and think on it for the second half.

Thank you Magi for the review, I am glad you liked it!

Good God..Here we go again...

This song is just so beautiful...I can definately hear more of the contemporary classical in this song, sounds more like something I would hear professionally more so then the majority of your work (most of the rest is really almost too progressive from what I hear in band and what not..if you know what I mean).

The Phisical nature of the song: I find the song quite flawlessly executed, it never gets repetetive, and nothing cuts in too harsh at any points of the song, providing a very smooth beautiful feel to it. Strings, choirs, and the piano(s) were..WOW(as an adjective).

The Image, Emotion, and Story: Wow, some parts of this song make me want to shed a tear although I am quite happy? Maybe a tear of peaceful..timeless joy? Anyway, I get an unusual image from this one. My first thought was as follows..:
We are flying over a beautiful landscape as the music starts..Gracefully soaring over the earth, until finallly we slowly approach a single location..And as we spiral in to it we see children running all over a beautiful little plain, just running back and forth, what they are playing or doing is unknown, but they seem lost in time, for it does not matter to them. (The piano starts)(We are now looking out of the eyes of one of them). Now they all come together into a group as the skies grow darker, and they approach eachother with a muted laughing, almost like we are watching through a giant window..We now see them talking, joking, laughing,(first chior) then finally sitting down. Now they lay down as the skies grow black. (full orchestra kicks in)(SPLIT ENDINGS)
Ending one:Now the sky begins filling with little shimmering lights..stars, and as a comet soars by, our window begins to get up, and as he looks around, he notices only barren, flaming land around him, his friends are but crying souls next to him now, and all of the sudden we get an instant sinking feeling..we awake..

(Ending one)This was the dream of the tainted leader.

Ending two: Now, as a shooting star soars across the skies, our window looks to his left, there lie his friends, but now are much older, and as they get up, they still smile..But not that same carefree smile..a smile that is there JUST because they know that they will always be there for eachother..JUST because they are friends..JUST because they are alive, and they know that they will always, be friends forever..

Ending two: A prolouge to the entire story? Or just a beautiful scene.

Man Maestro, you will never cease to astonish me..What I was really describing in the story was something I seriously think would be in a movie, I mean, the intro to a movie would just be amazing, the entire spiral effect, then looking back up to see a completely new reality..now THAT would start a movie so well...
5/5 10/10, Kudos to you too Lacrioso, I know you had ALOT to do with this song too ; )..Didn't forget..

MaestroRage responds:

I admired this imagery Magi. Especially the second ending. It struck a deep chord with me. Maybe because I subconsciously thought that these friends were the friends of the fallen leader in our story. How many nights I wished that something like that would happen...

don't get me wrong though. The ending for that story was absolutely enticing. I would not have looked for a better way to end it, just possibilities.

I am sure Lacrioso appreciated the story as well, if it were not for his intro and brilliant piano opening, this piece would not have been possible.

Thank you for the review Magi, a truly well written one, i'm glad you liked it ^^.

Reflections shattered by the remorseful Reality

We call this tragedy (Review title).

Oh, and HOLY S#%T! You were right when you said it is scary how well the true end to your song fits in with my story..

For the ending of your song: Wow, what a triumphant...yet (maybe a illusion of my mind) bitter sounding grand finish! I say bitter just because of that last bit after the cymbal crash...chilling to my story...And the timpani roll starting the ending..bone chilling man..

BEFORE COUNTINUING THE READING OF THE STORY I ASK YOU AND ALL OTHERS THAT MAY BE READING THIS TO RE-READ MY REVIEW FOR THE DEMO! (I will be starting from the last sentence I left off on).

Remorseful Triumph Makes a Tragedy: "We then see the would-have-been slayed hero, behind him, an axe is risen..It begins to fall.." And just as the former leader looks up from a loss now realized as greater to him then his own life we see him wince...the axe had fallen, and he had become the victor...or so it would seem..to someone completely OBLIVIOUS TO THE REMORSE BUILDING WITH HIM! With tears falling we hear a scream, one so powerful the pointless war of the remaining minions halts to a stop...even if just for a breif moment, every beast, man, woman...warrior..every mortal being on that battlefield's head turned, and with each gazing eye was a burning hole in the decaying flesh of the surviving traitor.. Every breath drawn while making that glance... a breath taken out of his very essence... Now burying his head into his greatest sacrifice for "victory" he makes a silent, more heartfelt cry..all vengeance and rage had been realesed leaving only remorse and sorrow to build off of one another... We now see our hero stand, dropping his load to the ground, and with a scream towards the gods he draws up his arms, both risen high above him, with sword in hand... And in a moment the sword turned to point the one thing he truely HATED and could not stop hating till it was no more..and with an inward...inward thrust he falls once more..mouth open as if to yell, but no word retreat his mouth...and in his eyes the raging hatred and sorrow discountinued to collide until only a blank stare met his only true friends which were laying dead before him... Yet somehow this blank stare held his one and only true emotion... releif..

Now we see the ghost of the wise old man (from "These Angels of War" approaching the fallen allies. With a harmless smile he bends down to the once leader, and off of him he takes...a ring of hatred...cloak of remorse...and out of his hand comes...the sword...the sword of true meaning... And as he stands up, he looks out to the horizon, and on it stands The beast, next to it floats the evil, and finally up walks the man, together they start to mould..until finally they create one figure..the figure of the fallen traitor..therein finishing the riddle:
"The man, the beast, the evil.
They are one in the same.
Wisdom, power, Hatred.
Fear but one of them.
For if your fear each of them.
You shall not get far."

Our hero's had but miss-interpreted their little riddle..They were not to fear either the beast itself, the evil itself, or the man itself, but the combination of all three of them growing in their leader, for he was the one to fear! ..And it wasn't until his last breath that he realized, he had been overcomed by no monster, beast, or evil, but the enemy that was his own greed..and with his death, they were infused back within their items..only to provide another Tragedy for another group of friends in some other age...

Wow, I'm finally done? This song worked in such good cooperation with my story that I was able to fulfill the full climax...Beautiful peace..thanks for letting me write..5/5
(Wow, I'm actually..sad...) D';

MaestroRage responds:

:'(

So the story has finally come to it's glorious climax.

Didn't I tell you the songs end worked well with your story ;)?

And it did. Truly very well written here Magi. Such power, such last unsalvaged nobility that rings through the heart of everybody who would dare witness his sorrow filled rage. Shaking the very foundations of their souls, the imagery was simply amazing.

It truly makes me sad my good sir. That this world we have built together has, at least for now, come to a close. Filling it wish characters, and story alike we have given it life, and it has enjoyed what we would have it do.

I don't even know what to write to be honest. I am also quite saddened. It is over, but with a new day, a new world can be born, and a new story can be told.

Thank you for your story, your time, your efforts, and your countless reviews. They are all, very warmly appreciated.

Don't be a stranger Magi ;). I am glad you liked the piece!

WOW, I wish life gave me this feeling...

Both a story for the countinueing ones I have been doing, and another, exclusive one if you will, just for this song, I one I wish were true.

Song: I don't even know what to say, it is all so harmonically beautiful I am in awe...the complexity of the rythms doesn't even through off any harmony in the song, and in fact gives one a lovely heart leaping feeling inside...unexplainable..

Story1:Part1: The Love is Planted. (The tainted hero while still part of the group, falling in love with a lovely ally).
Always he had had a chemistry with her, every time they met, they couldn't help but to smile. Every time one talked, the other always showed an uncanny amount of interest in what they had to say. Discussions were impossible to keep straight between them, as either one would like nothing else then to hear the other talk for an eternity. It was a fresh, youthful love, one that completely over took the minds of them when together.
Story1:Part2: As the Soil of Confusion breaks:
It was a wonderful night, a victory had been had, the air was warm, and the ocean was quite. The cool ocean breeze and the light of a full moon created a completely surreal atmosphere around them. The entire group had been celebrating the great victory and was rejoicing at the camp, no far from here. The leader and his Valentine had somehow wandered off from the group, to a not fire lit, but moonlit surrounding. They talked for a while, and could not keep from smiling, the warmth of one another could have kept them from saving the world if it had been ending. They looked at eachother after a long silence..embraced..and gave eachother a heartfelt kiss..
Story1:Part3: As it Blossomed:
Ever since that night, they could not help but to give a great smile, and embrace at every encounter with one another. And although the boundless amount of time they wished to of had together was never able to be fullfilled, the feelings given from one another indescribable, and the compassion infinite, they did not bother to hide their love at all, as the entire group would get a moral lift every time they were scene together, like reading a beatiful love story they got a little of that feeling, and by getting that feeling they were able to give a little...

Story 2: Wouldn't it be Nice:
In a simple world, where adventure was not a dream, but an occupation..where truelove isn't a fairy tail, but an event..and where freedom isn't a right, but a feeling..this is the kind of world I would love to live in..One with lands to be traveled that are completely unknown to you, enemies which are enemies to all and acknowledged for being so, were you don't even need to know someone for them to be a friend, Where you can just take off with a group of friends and all of you're belongings, run to an unknown land, and start over..One where no one is prejudged, but everyone is mindful enough to at least put themselves in anothers shoes from time to time, even if they came to the conclusion that what had to be done had to be done. A place where you can "Dance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt. Sing like nobody's listening; live like it's heaven on earth." ~Mark Twain~

This piece is not only musically thrilling but an emotional fertelizer (for lack of a better term = P). Thanks for submitting this one. 5/5.
~TheWisestMagi~

MaestroRage responds:

hmmm... such superb written words here magi!

The story is one that held deep for me, and your second story is one I dream of nearly on a nightly basis. A world so full of adventure, yet rigid enough to support itself. A world where people can be friends by merely shaking hands. True friends through actions moreso then words...

ah it hurts me to think it knowing it could never bo so...

As for the first story. A blossoming love eh? It is a blissful scenerio where the love between friends is fully supported, for there is nearly always a spring of jealousy in the steps of those following behind. A small unsquashable tinge of thought that complains non stop "but why can't I have that?!"

Then again, true comrades would not have this problem, where the benefit of one, benifits them all...

wonderfully written Magi, I enjoyed reading it all. Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

Blood Induced Reflections

Back, drumline is over, and English papers can be procrastinated, so I hope to catch up with your progress ^^.

Song: I like how the song begins with a kind of mosdest rage, then builds up due to the sticato strings up to a blinding fury due to the added hecticness of more drums, the chanting, and the extra strings throughout the piece. I also enjoy how the last chant is like a hammer breaking the glass wall of rage that is holding compassion in, and as it breaks into a slower, sadder part with the flute and heartbeat like drum, the song begins to fade, yet starts to build again. And yeah, that is where the song stops with a forwarned ubrupt ending you had told about, right at the start of another build.

Story Time: ~On a hell blazed battlefield after "This Frozen Land"~
Our hero's and heroine's find themselves against a demonic army on a demonic plain. Loss and blood is everywhere, as both sides are recieving reinforcements purpetually, as they have found the adventure turn into a war. Fighting with blind adreneline they slash through the crowds of beasts as they slowly surround them, eventually overcoming a hero here and there. Losses are great on both sides, but only felt on one, and as they fight on despair begins to fall over them, and with a viliant slash a demonic commander falls at the feet of a hero...and he comes face to face with the one he once loved, the Hero that had saved them so many times, who had led them through their toughest times, was now lifting his bloodstained sword over his head facing directly at our hero. As this moment in time freezes in our hero's head, he reflecs upon the leader he knew him as, the great ally he once was, and the compassionate friend he once was...As the sword started it's bloodthirsty path down towards our hero's head, another suddenly rams into our hero, knocking him just out of the way, and then lay dead, and female heroine, sword in side, the previous leader staring down through his helmet in complete terror at what he had done, he had slain the one he once loved...and as he falls to the ground, unconditional weeping takes over his body, and in a shudder, falls over the once was love of his life. And with this, the battle countinues to rage around him, although he is unaware of it's prescence..We then see the would-have-been slayed hero, behind him, an axe is risen..It begins to fall..

This is where the song leaves us, an ubrupt ending on both parts ^^. Looks like we are getting closer to the end.
5/5 Beautifully done, can't wait for the full version!

MaestroRage responds:

:'(

How DARE YOU!

I actually had to reread that last part like 3 times to make sure I had read it right...

Thankfully I read the story for Passionate Freedoms first, or this wouldn't have made such a monster impact. But it did, and the scenery made perfect sense.

The full version... I think you're going to like it Magi, because it has a very noble, and epic segment after. A defiant scream to the heavens! And I have already foreseen the possible ending of that story. I hope you will enjoy it, because I gotta tell you, the final version fits your story so well it makes my spine shiver.

Thank you for this story! And for this review! I will upload the final version tomorrow!

Frozen in Time

Long time no type, = P.

Actual makeup of song:
Although, I can easily tell how this can be relaxing for something like a flight sim, it almost sounds remorsefull to me. I'll admit, I was surprised to not see an overwhelming string sound (alhtough there are some strings, that were well done), XD. Piano was beautiful..some of it's parts reminded me of some MMD =*P. This is a great thing, for as you know, he could very well be the best here at portraying pure emotion, your the story man for me = ). The choir also had a wonderful effect, but the flute was a HUGE part of the piece. The flute, was just as wonderful as the piano to me (except for that I like the piano as a instrument more). The piano part at 1:55 was AWESOME, it gave me some extreme sensations I can't explain..almost..icey ; ).

STORY TIME! (An unspecified amount of time after Constituting Realities).

As we enter the scene we see a hero, just staring into the icey cold night, frozen in thought, thinking of the once was hero he had beloved. As his memory of his great friend grew darker and darker, he thinks to himself about what happened, what could have happened, what will happen...what MUST happen. He now visualizes his once was ally, standing over him as a friend in the light, reaching down to pick him up....but then, the lighting starts turning a deep icey blue, and as the glare of the sun fades, it reveals that not the heros hand is reaching down for help, but his sword is striking down in greed. Startled, our hero jumps as if it was really happening to him, falls from his seat on the ground to his back...and somone approaches from behind. A female hero, whom takes a seat next to our almost crying hero. Not quite making eye contact, she looks just past him, and somehow provides what little comfort that is acquirable. Laying her hands to her side now, she also stares upward, and a tear starts down her cheek...about halfway...and freezes in the cool night, not from temperature, but emotion. They look over to his tent...then sulk their heads down...
Now the rest of the heros approach, and take similar actions...but each in their own remembrance...
Making a final stare at the somehow unforgivable night moon, of a cloudless sky, they take their last memory of him, and remember it, for he is changed, they cant compare the new enemy of greed to the once great leader...he is gone...Frozen in Time.....

I know this is probably VERY different from anything you've gotten as a story, or anything you were going for...although like I said, for a flight sim...INCREDIBLY relaxing, in fact, it even greated a relaxed scene for me..just a sadder one. GREAT WORK, love your refound glory of the piano, 5/5, hope to get to the next review later tonight ^^.

MaestroRage responds:

You write as if the old leader has been slain...

:'(

I guess to them, he died that night. Replaced his shining guidance to a blinding greed.

I liked one line you wrote very much

"she also stares upward, and a tear starts down her cheek...about halfway...and freezes in the cool night, not from temperature, but emotion"

this made me think back and contemplate so many things. A tear, frozen not from what the outside world has done to her, but more so from the cold she emits from herself. So deep and dark her sorrow, so cold her heart then it is to the degree damaging to her surrounding simply by being there.

A fascinating prospect.

This was in fact very different from what I was thinking, but I am glad all the same that you did what you did. A very interesting turn of events!

I miss MMD :'(

he's a great guy, I should go bug him more often. Maybe convince him he's gotta come back, cuz he's all too cool for school.

Thank you for the review Magi, as always greatly appreciated. I'm glad you liked the piece ^^.

*Also, I do have this new love for the piano. My next hope is to fall in love with some woodwinds other then the panflute, which has thus far successfully filled the bill for any other woodwind i'd want.*

A few things sadder then death...

WOW, I sure am getting late on my reviews, my apoligies.
First, the actual makeup of the song:
That harpischord like sound in the very beginning initially reminded me of an old, but very good video game, a heartmelting tail of such, but in black in white for some reason is what I picture. Now the voices kick in, adding to this sorrowful feeling, they are almost understanding voices for someone of great dismay. Now, they fade away, as with the understanding and compassion for the person, and the strings come in, just mindboggling they are, as they just play a slightly disconcertingly sad tune. Now, another harpischord..maybe a clavischord, or just a piano, kick in, building emotion, until finally, it is over.

Ok, story time, = P (even though the previous section of the review had alot of story qualities[also, I do indeed to link this with other stories]):

As we enter the story, and this sad story comes into picture, we see a dying man, in a bed. They are in a humble little villa, and the dying lay on cots all about, yet our heros are most focused upon one. It is the wise old man from the great stronghold they had once visited. They all, in silent understanding, assume he dies of old age, but really something deeper inside of him...his very soul is chewing away at his essence. They now aproach him...and silently make their regards, until the leader of the heros aproaches, the Sword of the Three strapped to his back, and the ring in a pouch. The wise old man now gasps in a mixture of terror, relief, and rage. This last hero leans over the top of the man, and the man whispers to his ear, "You MUST get rid of it..." The hero responds "What would you have me rid?" Now the wise old man responds "get...yourself..together...you know not...of what you do..." "Sir..I-" Now furious the man screams "YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU DO!" And in a dying voice the wise old man says words beyond the comprehension of the allies. "The peircing of a sword....passion of a ring...and..warmth of a cloak...have been..tainted by..forces unknown to you..and with these...lie more...power....hatred..and mystery..then..should be..tampered.." Now gasping to say his last few warnings the man falls, and a demonic chill falls over the room, all goes silent...
Now comes a doctor the hero's had not seen before out of the back room, saying..in too cheerful of a voice "The man wanted you to have this" as he handed them a pack, within it lying a cloak. Something told our heros not to touch it, they don't know what, but they knew it was not in good intention the doctor did this. As they set camp for the night far out of town, discussing that they had made a vastly great decision in leaving the cloak, the leader...meanwhile, opened his pack, eyes radiant in greedy power, in his tent...there was an extra item.

Seems like I could've come up with something better, but I think this is pretty good, just couldn't find the right wording for parts. (oh, and your story is incredible by the way, I really like the emotions portrayed in it, I wish I had enough room to write a reply to it, = P.)
5/5 ~TheWisestMagi~

MaestroRage responds:

heh, thats perfectly fine, in your review, i'd like to see your story, not mine ;). I'm glad you enjoyed it though.

This is actually a duet of guitars you are hearing. It DOES have a harpischord quality when you look at it from such an angle... interesting.

I would tell you what every part of the song is meant to mean, but really it's all rather long and I wouldn't have the space anyways. But you've got the right idea and thats all that counts.

As for your story... now i'm really beginning to wonder what all these items do. Did they collect all of them? I was thinking what would happen if one of them took all the items and wore them. True they have all of them scattered, I do not think all the heroes are wearing all the items at once...

so many questions...

I guess with time, you'll slowly break it to me ;), I better start getting some angry battle parts up here, see what these items can do!

Thank you for the review Magi, I don't mind if you're super late, I don't mind if you don't write a review period, if you listen to a piece and enjoy it, then really I don't want anything more from you. But if you don't enjoy it, you better get your behind typing as to why >:(!!!

Thank you for the review again Magi, i'm glad you enjoyed it!

Somehow...I laugh

This song is incredibly beautiful, and I will get more into that later. But now I must explain the reason for the title of my review. You say "I need a life" in the description, I assume do to your overwhelming amounts of keyboard works. Now, my question to you is, define life ; ). This is one of the best ways I can think of someone to be spending their lives doing...although I don't know what you mean by it, I somehow disagree with you. I say you have a life...a life better (not in the typical meaning of a "better" life) then most, a life that is more fulfilling, one that helps people. I know that you no longer visit newgrounds much now adays, and if I remember correctly from something I read long ago it was becaused you joined the military. Some people would find Irony in you going from writing and playing heartfelt keyboard music to going into different countries to fight, but I see you helping people with music, but then helping people with actions...not much of a change if you ask me..and for some reason (if I remember right once again) I dont picture you as the average soldier (pilot) I picture a....ugh..I dont know what i see, but you are it, and it is sincere, wise, and above all compasionate...The ability to put yourself in anothers shoe's is indeed one of the most vital traits in a human being, for if we were all able to do this, the world would be a much better place.

As for this song in particular, I think it might even be a little overlooked (should be at least platinum). I see you have occaisonally come up with the thought that you are not talented, but overrated... Your wrong, emotion in music is what makes it music rather then machinery, and what you make is music, not rythmically correct noise in tune...there's a difference. (5/5)

Sincerely,
The late voice,
~TheWisestMagi~

MilkMan-Dan responds:

I just wanted to tell you that your review touched me.

Thankyou sir.

Wow again.

I like it..
I admit, the beginning sounded much like a variation of the "Mission Impossible" theme. I love the orchestra parts that kick in after that part though. The next transition sounds like a whole new song at first. Then that lovely bittersweet piano from the other song kicks in...ohhhh i love that piano. Now it takes another transition, to almost a music box sound, playing along harmonically with the piano. The song ends however with a brutal sound, which is pretty awesome, and unsuspected (like most of the song, which is why you get the 10 for diversity/originality).

KEEP IT UP!! You have improved soo much with these last 2 additions to your songs, Im not sure what happened, but I love it.

P.S. Now that I hear so many songs on NG and samples while making them, I hear the same instruments from other songs, so it's fun to make the connection. (Oh and WC3 is warcraft 3 I think, but not sure). Also, I can see these last 2 songs being in some submissions = D.

Aresdev responds:

Thanks for the comments, as always, you kick ass. I've had a rough month, and music is the only the thing that centers me.

Wow, just wow.

Holy crud, you have gotten 3 folds times better since last time I heard you, this is good stuff right here. Your work has paid off with this one. At first I admit I was wondering "Why is this classified in misc when it's clearly an ambiant or trance?", then the orchestra kind of stuff kicked in...and yeah, that puts it in a catagory of its own. I love the mixing of both kinds of genres within the song. I hope to do that kind of stuff someday too...in fact I have start just little ideas of a "Classical vs. Techno" series of sorts. I hope I come up with better stuff though.
OK BACK TO THE SONG:
I love that big hit right before the orchestro too. It is all well done, and that piano is just so bittersweet. And yeah your "real" title is probably more suitable. As a suggestion for that..it might be too late, but you could start putting symbols in front of your songs, like my † at the beginning and end of each song.

Well done, but I want to finish this review to listen to The Battle. (5/5, I hope this one gets you noticed).

Aresdev responds:

Thanks, I don't know about 3 folds better... maybe 2. haha, I'm trying to find my niche. You rock.
